The Bearcats recruiting coup d’état continues.  Two more athletes verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati football program.  Dry Fork, Virginia’s Caleb Ashworth is among those two.  Ashworth is a 6’3″, 235lb. 3-Star Defensive End.  Ashworth received interest from a number of programs, including Duke, Maryland, Wake Forest, Appalachian State and Harvard, before choosing the Bearcats.  I love what Ashworth’s high school coach, Buddy Brown, had to say about him:

“He was the fastest football player on our team last year and the year before…That’s kind of a rare combination — to be 240 pounds and bench press 365-375 pounds and be the fastest kid you’ve got … He’s got the fastest 40 time. He wins every gasser we run.”

Here’s a good article about Ashworth from his local press.

In addition to Ashworth, the Bearcats landed Auburn, Alabama’s Griffin Riggs.  Riggs had offers from Southern Miss, South Alabama, and Arkansas State, and received interest from the University of Minnesota before choosing the University of Cincinnati.  He stands 6’2″, 230 lbs. and played defensive tackle for Auburn High School in their highest qualification (6A).

You may recall that the Bearcats’ coaching staff has some times to Auburn, Alabama.

I’m looking forward to seeing both of these guys suit up in the Red and Black.
