UC Unveils “Mantraflage” Bowl Game Cleats

Over the past few years, starting with the Sugar Bowl, UC has unveiled unique helmets for their bowl games and given the helmets to the players as an award at the end of the season.

The Bearcats have also been one of the few schools in the country to sport some really cool swag every year through Adidas.  They were the first school to use the TECHFIT (extra, extra small shrink-wrapped) football jerseys (yes, even before UL, UCLA, and the Irish).  UC also wears the, let’s just say “unique,” Adidas post-season basketball uniforms.

This year the university worked closely with Adidas to come up with these “mantraflage” cleats, essentially decked-out UC camouflage, with phrases all over such as “go Bearcats,” “Cincinnati Bearcats,” “go red,” go black,” “down the drive,” and so on.

Here is a video showing the player’s reactions when they first saw the cleats.

Here is an additional video of the UC equipment staff explaining the creation of the cleats.

What do you guys think?  We can’t wait to see the rest of the uniforms and helmets!
