Gunner Kiel’s Historic UC Football Season

In his first year as a starting quarterback in college, UC sophomore star #11 Gunner Kiel shredded defensive secondaries.

Chart

I’d say the former five-star recruit and #1 quarterback in all the land coming out of high school in Columbus, Indiana is living up to the hype. At 6-foot-4, 208 lbs. Gunner can run and gun. He has all the physical tools to be an exceptional quarterback in college and the pros.

So where does he stack up against Cincinnati greats?

SEASON TOUCHDOWN PASSES:

  1. Ben Mauk (also a transfer from Wake Forest) (31 in 2007)
  2. Gunner Kiel (30 in 2014)
  3. Tony Pike (29 in 2009)

SEASON PASSING YARDS:

  1. Gino Guidugli (3,543 in 2002)
  2. Brendon Kay (3,302 in 2013)
  3. Greg Cook (3,272 in 1968)
  4. Ben Mauk (3,121 in 2007)
  5. Gunner Kiel (3,010 in 2014)
  6. Zach Collaros (2,902 in 2010)

In his first year he already had one of the best overall seasons of any Cincinnati QB. He also helped lead the Cats to a 9-3 (7-1 AAC) record and an AAC conference championship. We cannot wait until next year to see what he can do with a year of experience under his belt.
