University of Cincinnati women’s soccer player Katy Couperus has been named first team All-Ohio for the 2014 season by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association.
Couperus held down the Bearcats’ midfield and finished second on the team in points with 15 (five goals, five assists). The Ft. Collins, Colorado native was one point shy from matching her 2013 point total. On Aug. 25, she was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and also earned Honor Roll recognition from the conference office for her performance in the opening weekend of play against Samford (8/22) and Mississippi State (8/24).
The sophomore’s efforts also earned her second team All-American Conference honors after receiving an All-Rookie Team nod during her freshman campaign.
Last season, UC goalkeeper Natalie Smith was designated to the All-Ohio Team.
The Bearcats finished 2014 with an overall record of 10-8-2 and 4-5-0 in American action. UC utilized an impressive 7-1-1 home record to enable them in reaching double-digit victories for only the second time since 2002.
