University of Cincinnati soccer player John Manga has been selected All-Ohio for his 2014 season by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association.
Manga (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in recent history for UC, scoring 10 goals while adding two assists for a total of 22 points. He was the first Cincinnati player since 2007 to reach double figures in goals and ranked 24th nationally in total goals.
He also led the American Athletic Conference in total goals and total points, while finishing second in goals per game and points per game and collected first team all-conference honors from the league coaches. He was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22 after registering three goals in two matches, while he also earned a spot on the Oct. 6 conference honor roll for scoring twice in a match at Tulsa.
Last season, a pair of Bearcats received All-Ohio honors, with Ashani Walker (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) earning a first team selection and Matt Remaley (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) a second team designation.
