The complete 2015-2016 conference schedule with dates and game times will be announced later on, but the AAC has announced each basketball team will continue to play an 18-game conference schedule. Eight of the 10 conference opponents will play twice (i.e. a home and away series). The remaining 2 games will be split, one home game and one away game.
The Bearcats will play home and away games against UConn, ECU, Houston, Memphis, USF, SMU, Temple and Tulsa. Cincinnati also will play Tulane at home in a revenge game from last year’s Valentine Day’s massacre buzzer-beater, and also travel to UCF.
Mark your calendars and request your vacation time now. The 2016 AAC tournament will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016, through Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, not to be confused with the CFE Arena where UCF plays at home. If you are one of the unlucky ones unable to attend and bask in the sun, the entire tournament will be aired on one of the ESPN channels.
The conference tournament will include every AAC team and be formatted the same way as last year. The first day will have matchups between the 8 and 9 seeds, 7 and 10 seeds, and 6 and 11 seeds. The winners will then advance to play the 1, 2, and 3 seeds on the second day. Also, on the second day, the 4 and 5 seeds will play. The top 5 seeds receive byes into the second day quarterfinals.
Oh, and btdubs, Mick Cronin will be back to coach all year!
