So far this summer the Bearcats have just been stacking up (i.e., stacks on stacks on stacks) the college football preseason award watch lists…
- Gunner Kiel named to the watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award, which goes to the nation’s best quarterback.
- Gunner Kiel also named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the “college football player of the year.”
- Shaq Washington named to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s best wide receiver. Shaq is Gunner’s safety blanket who navigates all over the middle of the field. He needs just 55 catches this year to be UC’s all-time leader in receptions (topping the one and only Mardy Gilyard).
- Andrew Gantz named to the watch list for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, which goes to the nation’s top place kicker.
- Deyshawn Bond named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which goes to the nation’s top center.
- Parker Ehinger and Silverberry Mouhon named to the watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award, which goes to the nation’s best offensive or defensive lineman or linebacker.
- Parker Ehinger also named to the watch list for Outland Trophy, which goes to the nation’s top interior offensive or defensive lineman.
If the season matches the preseason hype, we’re going to be in for a show in Clifton this fall.
