Bearcats Thrash Texas Southern, 96-58

Tuesday night UC did not let us down after losing to Butler in a tough one on the road. Very much to the contrary, the Bearcats obliterated Texas 96-58, scoring 59 points in the second half and holding the Tigers to their season scoring low. The Cats were up by as much as 41. Hats off to Texas Southern though. The Tigers are midway through a grueling 16-game season opening road game streak. That is just crazy!

The Bearcats continue to dominate inferior competition this season. Jarron Cumberland scored a new career high 18 points, going 4-4 from 3. The bench showed up after disappearing at Butler. Tre Scott added 11 points. Four Bearcats were in double figures. Junior Gary Clark also showed his improvement, dishing 6 assists. UC shot 56% from the field.

UC is playing like a borderline top-25 squad, which is indicative of their current #25 ranking. 8-2 on the season, Cincinnati plays at home against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at 2:30 pm, followed by another home game against Marshall on December 22nd. Here’s to hoping the team continue to gel and improve together. Hopefully, the next time the Cats get in a fight against an equally talented top-25 team, UC will come out ahead. It kills me that both the Rhode Island and Butler games were winnable, but due to offensive droughts UC just could not pull ahead in either match.
